DBX 3BX DS DYNAMIC RANGE EXPANDER

With DAIR Circuit (Dynamic Audio Impact Recovery)

RESTORES DYNAMIC RANGE TO ORIGINAL RECORDED MEDIA

MAKES TAPES, RECORDS, CD’S AND EVEN MP3′S COME ALIVE!

Put the power back into thin percussion and bass notes on your vintage vinyl and tapes with the dbx 3BX! Useful for restoring range on the old CD-4 discs and other program material that hasn’t quite stood the test of time and technology.

This legendary dbx 3BX-DS is in flawless condition. I am the 2nd owner and was fortunate to purchase it from an elderly gentleman that bought it new and hardly used it. It works perfectly and all functions perform as intended.

The DBX 3BX-DS is actually four processors in one! It is a dynamic range expander, dynamic range compressor, impact recovery device, and ambience controller. It makes vinyl, tape, FM radio, and even digital sources like CDs explode with dynamic punch and depth!

The DBX 3BX is a 3 band dynamic range expander and the model II and DS both had a special circuit that increases the “hit” for things like drums. DBX called this DAIR (I believe it stands for Dynamic Audio Impact Recovery) and it’s actually pretty effective at making drum sounds really pop. Unfortunately, DBX got so fed up with dealing with consumer retailers that they pulled out of consumer electronics and you can only find the 3BX on the used market. BTW, DBX didn’t offer DAIR on the early versions on the 3BX, only the later versions. If you can’t find a later 3BX, the 4BX and 5BX expanders also incorporated the DAIR circuit and so did their DX3 and DX5 CD players.
The use of broad band compression delivers a wider dynamic range and a reduction in tape saturation effects.

The DBX 3bx has three channels of expansion for low mid and high frequencies. It treats each range of frequencies separately and expands the volume, which compensates for low dynamic music like the early 78′s. It also works on fm or stereo tapes. If you have a flat sounding recording this will help tremendously. You can use it to record & re-record music, or just to listen with.

Don’t miss this opportunity to own a piece of dbx audio history. Transform those flat sounding cd’s and mp3s into something with a little more guts!

YOUR RECORDINGS AND SOUND REPRODUCTIONS WILL COME ALIVE!
